In the early 1990s, my country's pultruded fiberglass (FRP) industry experienced its first major boom; numerous pultrusion plants of various sizes were established, and the development of pultruded fiberglass profiles for doors and windows began. In 2004, the Beijing Gaoke Entrepreneurial Technology Development Center successfully developed a fifth-generation, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient fiberglass door and window system, subsequently filing for a national invention patent. On November 16, 2005, the fiberglass doors and windows passed the Ministry of Construction's evaluation of scientific and technological achievements; the assessment highly commended the breakthroughs in the comprehensive technology of the pultrusion process and equipment as well as the profile cross-section design, recognizing them as leading the domestic industry.
In 2007, industry analysis indicated that the development of fiberglass doors and windows was sluggish due to issues regarding production techniques, window assembly, installation and protection, and market awareness. In 2022, the Ordos Municipal Science and Technology Bureau issued a directive promoting fiberglass doors and windows, designating them as a key national high-tech product that is both eco-friendly and energy-efficient. Recognized as the fifth generation of doors and windows-following wood, steel, aluminum, and plastic-they are hailed as the "green product" for architectural doors and windows in the 21st century. By 2025, industry analysis reports indicated that the fiberglass door and window sector was transitioning from traditional manufacturing toward high-tech, high-value-added production, demonstrating strong momentum in energy efficiency improvements and smart integration.
