SIZE & LOAD SELECTION - START HERE
Grating family decides the anti-slip and drainage behavior; beam series decides the span. Pick the cell from the matrix that matches your plant standard.

WHY THIS PAGE EXISTS
What the buyer is trying to solve
Plant maintenance engineers specifying the next access platform.
The buyers who land on this page are plant maintenance engineers and EPC contractors who are specifying a replacement or new-build access platform for a chemical, acid, alkali, or salt-spray environment. The existing painted-steel platform has rusted; the existing galvanized grating has corroded at the weld points; the existing concrete plinth has cracked. They want a platform that can be installed within the next turnaround window, that does not need to be repainted, and that holds its structural load rating for the next 20+ years.
Drop-in geometry
Standard beam and grating dimensions; OEM drops into existing anchor pockets on retrofit projects.
01
One quarter the weight
~ ¼ the mass of equivalent steel platform; reduces the structural load on the support columns.
02
Acid / alkali proof
Vinyl-ester grating and beams rated for the same chemical atmospheres as the FRP handrail on this site.
03
OSHA geometry
Standard OSHA walking-platform loads; integral kick plate; railing mounts compatible with FRP handrail on the platform edge.

When not to specify FRP platform
Cases where steel grating remains correct.
Three cases where we redirect
- Very heavy rolling loads above {{10}} kN/m². If the platform is on a steel-mill route or a heavy-equipment service path, the FRP grating can deflect; specify a heavier pultruded grating or a steel grating.
- Open flame or welding operation directly above. Hot metal splash degrades the resin; specify a localized steel grating plate in the hot zone and FRP elsewhere.
- Very small platform (below 1 m²) where standard grating pieces are inefficient. Custom-cut FRP grating has more waste than custom-cut steel; for one-off small platforms the steel plate is the right call.

Customization & OEM
EPC and platform fabricators typically need a complete kit: grating panels cut to size, beams cut to length, kick plates, anchor brackets, railing mount stubs. Send the platform layout and we return the BOM. First article {{6}} weeks; repeat {{3}} weeks.
Frequently asked questions
What is the typical lead time for a 500 m² platform order?
From PO to first delivery, typically {{8–10}} weeks for standard MG-38 grating and I150 beams. Custom mesh or covered grating adds {{2–3}} weeks. We hold forecast slots for major plant EPCs.
Is the platform OSHA-compliant?
Standard platform geometry satisfies OSHA 1910 Subpart D walking-platform loads. Project-specific loads and jurisdictions verified on first article.
Can the platform be installed during a turnaround?
Yes. Typical installation rate is {{30–50}} m² per shift for a 4-person crew. We supply the installation drawing with each shipment.
How is the grating cut on site?
Diamond or PCD blade, dust extraction, edge sealer kit supplied. Cut edges must be sealed with the kit provided or the warranty is void.
Does the grating hold a chemical splash?
Yes for the same chemical families as the FRP handrail. Verify specific chemicals on first article; some solvents are out of scope for vinyl-ester.
How is the platform inspected in service?
Visual at annual walk-around; look for surface damage, UV chalking, or impact cracks. Any visible crack or fiber exposure is grounds for replacement. Inspection interval typically annual.
Can the platform be supplied with a removable section for crane access?
Yes. Specify on RFQ; we supply a removable grating section with lifting handles.
What documentation comes with each shipment?
Per shipment: dimensional inspection, resin lot certificate, ASTM E84 (if specified), OSHA geometry reference, installation drawing, anchor BOM.

Send a platform layout
Send the platform dimensions, the live load requirement, the atmosphere class, and the anchor pattern. We return a kit BOM, a fixed quote, and the certification pack.
