An FRP louver that lets the air through, keeps the rain out, and does not need to be repainted in a chemical atmosphere

Composite louver system for industrial facades, mechanical rooms, and coastal buildings. Drainage-designed blade geometry sheds rain without blow-back; integral color; corrosion-proof in chemical, acid, and salt-spray environments.

What the buyer is trying to solve

Why the page exists.

The buyers who arrive at this page are plant ventilation engineers, mechanical-room designers, and facade specifiers who need a corrosion-proof louver for an industrial building. The existing aluminum louver has pitted at the welds; the existing galvanized steel louver has rusted at the mullion; the existing painted aluminum louver is on its third paint cycle. They want a louver that lets the air through at the published free-area ratio, sheds rain under wind-driven conditions, and survives the atmosphere for 25 years without recoating.

Four use cases where FRP louver is the right answer

Chemical-plant facades

Acid mist plume around the building envelope; aluminum pits, steel rusts.

01

Coastal / salt-spray buildings

Salt-spray corrosion on aluminum and galvanized; FRP shrugs it off.

02

Wastewater / desalination

Chlorine contact area; ventilation louver must not corrode.

03

Mechanical-room intake

Equipment-room ventilation louver; corrosion-proof over equipment life.

04

Blade families

Choose the blade family by your free-area and rain-shed requirement.

L-D standard drainable

Standard drainable blade, {{3:12}} ratio, integral drainage path. ~ {{50}}% free area.

01

L-HD heavy drainable

Heavy drainable blade, {{4:12}} ratio, deeper drainage channel. ~ {{45}}% free area; better rain shedding.

02

L-NS non-sightline

Non-sightline blade for plant office or control-room visibility restriction. ~ {{40}}% free area.

03

L-AC acoustic

Acoustic-infilled blade for plant noise control. ~ {{30}}% free area; STC {{30–35}}.

04

L-FS fixed station

Fixed-station louver for ventilation cabinet and equipment-room application. Custom geometry.

When not to specify FRP louver

Cases where aluminum or steel remains correct.

Three cases where we redirect

  • Architectural metal finish required. If the owner has specified a polished or anodized aluminum visual in the procurement spec, FRP cannot match it visually. Specify the metal and budget for the paint cycle.
  • Very large opening (> {{6}} m² single panel). FRP louver panels are stiff enough up to {{3 × 4}} m. Beyond that, structural framing must be re-engineered or a different supplier is needed.
  • Live fire / smoke exhaust application. FRP is not the standard material for fire-rated smoke exhaust louvers; a fire-rated metal louver with motor is the right product family. We can name suppliers.

Customization & OEM

Building contractors and louver installers typically need a panel sized to the wall opening with the project-specific hole pattern. We supply the louver as a complete panel with frame, mullions, blades, screens, and anchor pattern. First article {{6–8}} weeks; repeat {{3–4}} weeks.

Frequently asked questions

What is the typical lead time for a 50-panel louver order?

From PO to first delivery, typically {{8–10}} weeks for standard L-D louver in grey RAL {{7035}}. Custom blade or color adds {{2}} weeks.

Does the louver pass the AMCAAC 500-L wind-driven rain test?

The drainable blade family passes Class A wind-driven rain at {{2.5}} m/s wind speed per AMCA 500-L. Heavier-rain applications verified on first article. Class C (hurricane-zone) configurations available on request.

Is the louver AMCA-certified?

AMCA ratings published for water penetration, airflow, and pressure drop are project-specific; we can publish ratings for the specific panel geometry on first article.

Can the louver be supplied with a removable insect screen?

Yes. Stainless or aluminum mesh in {{1.5 × 1.5}} mm opening, mounted on a removable frame for cleaning access.

How is the louver installed?

Surface-mount or recessed-mount frame with stainless A4 anchor bolts through the existing wall. Installation per the project drawing; we supply the installation manual with each shipment.

Can the louver be supplied in custom RAL color?

Yes, full RAL range. Standard grey RAL {{7035}} for fast delivery; other RALs add {{2}} weeks.

How is the louver inspected in service?

Visual at annual walk-around; look for surface damage, UV chalking, or impact cracks. Insect screen should be cleaned annually. Inspection interval typically annual.

What documentation comes with each shipment?

Per shipment: dimensional inspection, resin lot certificate, ASTM E84 (if specified), installation drawing, anchor BOM.
